New York City.
During the day the streets are clogged with the countless citizens, going about their daily routines.
Cars fill the streets and there is a never ending life to the city.
At night there is much change as few will go into those particularly dark places.
In these deep recesses, there are things that most cannot understand.
History has spoken constantly of things that go BUMP in the night, though dismissed as fairytales and folklore.
The truth is much more haunting.

If you had seen what really lurks in the shadows, you wouldn't sleep either.

Afraid of the Dark is a play by post RP that is inspired by all the stories that we've heard of hauntings, ghosts, demons and the like. In truth it is a forum for horror writers to create stories of dread and terror - or of survival.
From the works of H.P. Lovecraft or Stephen King, to the urban legends of things under the stairs - all of these contribute to the fears that we all have and here is where you can collaborate with others who share those fears.
You characters will experience these things and take part in the strange and macabre, driving them to live through it to reach the safety of daylight, or go slowly insane by trying.
