Lupines, Lukoi, Werewolves
Leones, Leos, Werelions
Tigeris, Tigres, Weretigers
(These are the only shifters that will be avaliable on this board. Other than a few Werebears that have to be admin approved if not from the adoptable list)
There are other shifters out there in the world. They keep to themselves, keep themselves more hidden and it is very hard to become infected or to be born like them. So for our board we keep the wolves, lions and tigers. ** There are a few bears in Pennsylvania their numbers will be limited)
Characteristics
~They have the ability to shift at will. Often learning this at a young age, once they hit maturity, normally at the age of 13 or 14.
~All shifters can outlive humans, they age a tiny bit slower. Average life span for a shifter was around 150 years before the humans destruction.
~Their blood runs hot through their veins at an average temperature of 101 degrees.
~Almost every shifter is born as such hardly anyone is changed, especially in this time. Humans are hard to find but many shifter groups have hidden some humans amongst their groups to help them survive and keep them safe.
~All shifters have the ability to partially shift into a half form or a hybrid type of form. Normally standing at about seven to eight feet tall they look just as it sounds a half form between their beast and their human form. Standing on two feet. The stronger and more powerful the shifter the more human they tend to look with the ability to talk. Though their voice is rough and gruff and not all words come out properly due to the change in their jaws and vocal chords.
~Only the strong, Apha shifters and very very few dominant shifters can actually fully shift into that of their beast. It had been a rare ability until the humans started to destroy each other causing shifters to fight along them or hide from the wars. Looking so much like human many chose their animal sides. Turning this ability not as rare and the first time that humans had ever seen a true half form shifter around.
Infection
Infection is rare. So rare that it is hardly heard of anymore. The only way that a human can be changed into a shifter is if they are bit and their saliva a large amount of it is mixed into the humans blood. Even after a bite sometimes the human does not change. **The way to tell a human has been infected is..
- they start to heal at a rapid rate.
-the bite is a raised scar on their body from the rapid healing process.
-It feels as if their body is on fire, they burn with a horrible fever as their body adjusts to shifter disease running through their bodies.
Some shift right away, due to anxiety and fear. Their beast will tear through their skin. It is a very painful process at first. Then their animal side takes over, wanting to flee from whatever is distressing them and hunt.
Many don't shift right away, it all depends on the person and the stress they are under. If they don't shift right away after the infection has kicked in they. They normally change within a week.
Weakness
*Silver will kill a shifter quickly, They are highly allergic to it. Wounds from silver can spread across their body if they are not cauterized immediately stopping it from spreading. The wounds also heal very slow.
*Young shifters and the scent of blood make them think of hunting... often making it hard for them to control themselves and they shift.
*Young shifters often have a hard time with strong emotions and with sex.
*Shifting takes a lot of strength, many have to sleep after shifting to let their bodies regenerate strength.
*The older and more stronger level of the shifter the easier it is for them to shift back and forth without feeling as drained. It is a skill that is learned and practiced and takes time to develop.
Strengths
^Shifters are very, very strong in both their human form and animal forms.
^Heightened Senses, taste, touch, smell, sight, hearing...
^Very territorial creatures, they know what is there's and will protect and fight to keep it.
^Strong bonds of family. They have their clans no matter how small they are now a days. Close knit and hard to separate. It is said they often times draw their strength from each other to help themselves heal and relax.
