Character Name: Erikur, aka Erik
Age: Born Vampire, 1,243 years old
Gender: Male (“If you’re lucky… I may assure you of that fact.”)
Sexual Orientation: Straight
Power Level Ancient (“Really, do we need the labels? Its not like I look a day over 500!”)
Description: With his appearance screaming bad boy, Erik stands 6’5” and weighs 260 pounds. Every piece of clothing he owns fits him so tight they are like a second skin on his body. Eriks ripped body is one of his most defining features. His muscles are expansive and well honed. Although his skin appears to be flawless at first glance, Erik is covered in scars that over time have practically disappeared into fine lines that can only be seen upon closer examination. Though he once wore his hair long, Erikur now keeps his dark ebony hair shaved closely to his head. His eyes are naturally a dark brown, almost black as well, though when his emotions flair, whether by passion, anger, or use of his powers, his eyes will glaze and turn a bright copper color. His other defining feature is his tattoo that wraps from the left side of his chest, around his shoulder, to the left side of his back, and extends down his arm. (“Oh I am a handsome devil indeed”)
Personality: Erikur has been a loner for most of his life. Although he is able to create friendships quite easily he does not like socializing when it is not needed. He has never interacted with dragons, avoiding them at all costs. He helps humans because they are his food sorce and for a long time was his monatary sorce as well. Although his nobility and loyalty ran out long ago, he still lives by his own code. (“Everyone worth their grain of salt should have one.”) Erikur does not take orders well due to his problems with athority figures, he would rather give them. Even though he is one of the most ferce warriors in battle he has a kind and gentle nature when it comes to women and children. With rouge tendancies, Erik enjoys the thrill of trying to woo women. (“Yes, I enjoy long walks on the beach, candle lit dinners for two, holding hands, furry bunnies…. excuse me while I go shot myself.”)
History: Born in 857 AD in Denmark near the Baltic sea, Erickur was breed to be a vikingr. The newest and most prolific warrior of the era. As soon as he came of age he was on a longship trainning his sea legs. Alongside his father, Erikur learned how to man the ship and control a league of men. Erikur learned and he learned quickly. Keeping his true heritage hidden when his father died in 872 AD, he took over his fathers longboat and crew. The ship was named Det Udødelige and over 35 men made up the crew. A natural born leader, he was respected by his men, even though he was younger than most of them. It was in 874 AD that Erikur and his his men took their first long voyage to the settlement of Iceland with Ingólfur Arnarson. During their long voyage, Erikur feed from his mens wrists. Manipulating their minds so they would never know of his trechary. Other than that he kept his power usage to a minimum other than private practice, slowly developing his favorite ability and feeding his fascination of fire.
Once in Iceland, Erikur proceeded to train his men further in battle. He knew that along with a settlement came battles to secure the lands, and he used that as a cover for his true motives. Iceland was an unexplored and largely unclaimed land, Erikur wanted to change that. After two years of training Erikur moved his crew turn troop along the coast of the large island. Along with civilan followers, Erikur and his men systematicly settled Iceland, claiming the lands as they traveled. Over these years Erikur became excedingly knowledgable on how to live off the land. Learning how to track animals and humans alike with extreme stealth that made him practically invisible.
As the turn of the century grew near, Erikur knew he would no longer be able to lead his crew, yet his secret be known by his unageing appearance. It was not in his nature to passively step aside and allow his ship to be captianed by another. Thus, one late night Erikur set his ship adrift and aflaime to sink at sea and begin the tale of his death. Swimming back to shore undetected, Erikur made the long treck north to an area that was unoccupied. Claiming the land as his own, he established a small inn. With the closest town being nearly a half days ride, he was able to live quietly, associating with noone but his guests. Not excluding the extreme flirtations he had with his female guests. For many years he claimed his son’s, his son’ sons, etc. lives as his own to appease the traveling locals. Once again in private he continued to master his ablilities.
As the population grew and the towns limits increased, Erikur knew he would be forced to leave all he knew once more. It was during the second bout of Black Death that he once again faked his death and moved on. This time he joined the pilgrimage to the new land. However, before he left Iceland, Erikur had an icelantic ruin inscription tattooed on his shoulder to represt the life (lives) he was leaving behind. Once in the new land Erikur claimed land for a small farm about two days ride southwest of the settlement near a large lake. Every few days he would travel to one of the towns that were developing near him to feed and buy and sell supplies.
This arangement worked for numerous years. Remaining in an undeveloped area and keeping his distance from the human settlers. As he watched the human race thrive on the new continent, he thrived on his own, mastering his vampiric skills. His content world was disrupted when the revolutionary war began. Taking alliance with the colonies, Erikur joined the fight for independence. He worked to intercept missives between the royal forces and countermaned their planned attacks. Causing explosions to keep troops from advancing and trying to push them back. Continuing to prevent the numerous attacks and possible battles, Erikur practiced his skills more openly. It was during a battle that he realized he is not always able to completely control his psychokinetic ablilties. He discovered that his emotions will cloud his mind and prevent his skills to be exicuted properly. At one point during a fight he was traped by three men with muskets and bayonets, in an attempt to escape he used his powers to try and shove them off balance. Instead however he force them back with such power that he crushed their rib cages and caused their deaths.
On the night of April 18, 1775, when Paul Revere was sent to aleart the countryside on his famous mindnight ride, Erikur took it upon himself to follow along unseen. Acting as protector to the human, he set ablaze a house with loyalist snipers perching in the windows. This along with his other actions aided the rebels in their declaration of independence. Knowing that once the war was over, expansion would be the next priority, he packed up his necessities and traveled south. Traveling down the coast he lived year to year, working on others farms, his heritage never given away since the sun no longer affected him. He worked as a blacksmith, a farm hand, a handyman, and any other position he could get. Fitting in where he could, he never stayed in a place for more than two years. Making his way all the way to Georgia and back up to Pennsylvania by the time the American Civil War began.
Sickened but the lack of loyality the humans had for their ruler they called a president and having no desired to see the states divided, Erikur threw his lot in with the union. Although he had no desire to harm any humans, he followed the yankee army so as camp was set up he was able to scout ahead unseen. He prevented many massacres that could have developed from night attacks by giving the troops he was with a warning. It was during the war, living in the camps that he developed his rougish ways. Although he has always felt a protectiveness towards females and young, he was now beginning to see the excitement in chasing women. The camp women were of loose morals, seeing the disgusting display of their willingness he decided that he needed a code to live by. Although he has always decided his right over wrong, he never felt he had rules for how to live his life.
Seeing the other members of his breed following shortly behind the battles, feeding and turning the wounded humans. It wasn’t until John Wilkes Booth shot Abraham Lincoln that Erikur became a mercinary. He was hired to set out after Booth with soldiers, even though he prefered to work alone. Cornering John in the barn before he hurt any other human, he set a small explosion catching the building on fire so he had no escape.
He continued to work as a mercinary throughout the United States as it grew. Taking hits on people such as Elizabeth Short’s (the Black Dahlia) murder and Jimmy Hoffa. He never took credit for any of the illeagel justice. He continued to live a solitary life, no love and no friends. It wasn’t until 2076, after the humans had stupidly killed off most of their species and limited his feeding sorce, that he meet the female, a human, who made him feel. Weak from lack of nurishment, the woman took him in, and allowed him to feed from her without the need to manipulate her mind. He lived with her for a short while before seeing how remaining with her would hurt her and for her to separate from her clan due to their disapproval. Having grown rather attached to her and caring for her feelings, Erikur decided that he would rather she be angry with him for leaving, possibly even saddened for a while, than isolated from her kind, her family, and hating him for it. Thus one night he left under the cover of darkness, disappearing into the night. Although he could no longer remain at her side, he was always checked back on her. The thrid time he went to check on her he was surprised to find out she was with child. He knew it had to be his, so he watched her, protected her and when the child came, he watched over the baby girl too, his baby daughter.
He was with them as often as he could be hiding in the shadows or disapearing behind a tree. He learned that the child had been named Aida and he loved the name. He could tell by the glimpses he got of her eyes that she would take after him. She was a halfbreed after all. He hovered over her when her mother had died, long ago had her innocent childhood been taken from her, but now she had not choice but to take care of herself. He wanted to step in, to help her, but he knew that would be the worst thing for her. Figuring that she had had all the major changes in her life she could handle at that moment. Instead he continued to keep close but never leaving her. If the time should come that she would need him, he will be there for her. However, now that her halfbreed senses are growing and ,although she does not realized it, she is linked to him by blood, it is becoming harder and harder to follow her unnoticed.
Strengths and Weaknesses:
Strengths
~ Pyrokinesis – He has many powers but he is one of the strongest pyrokinetics in the past six centuries.
~ High Pain Tolerance – At full health Erikur has a remarkably high pain tolerance. Being run through the gut with a sword is more likely to annoy him than cause him pain. (“I really do hate doing laundry!”)
~ Charming – Whether personality wise or supernatural wise, Erikur can use his charms to his advantage. He can totally pull off the cheesey pick up lines and make them sexy.
~ Keeping Secrets – Since Erikur keeps to himself for the most part, he has no problem keeping secrets or hiding things. Bribery does not work on him, there are very few things that could be used to perswade him. (“Well…”)
~ Being Unseen – Through out his years, Erikur has developed a keen stealth ablity. He is able to move without being heard. (“… BOO!”)
Weaknesses
~ Women – Erikur has long been a rouge, but he does have his gentlemen like moments. He cannot stand to see any women in pain. The easiest way for a woman to manipulate him is though tears and that is one of his most guarded secrets.
~ Heights – Erikur does suffer from an unnatural fear of heights and even though he is capable of flying he will not do so unless his life, or the life of his daughter depended on it.
~ Oatmeal Cream Cookies – Although there are many foods that he enjoys, Oatmeal cream cookies is sadly one of this weaknesses and as outragous as it may seem, one of the things that he can be bribed with. (“I don’t give a crap or a rolling donut what you think… they are yummy!”)
~ His Daughter – Although he has not shown himself to his daughter, he has followed and watched over her closely. She means everything to him and he would die to protect her if that’s what it took. (“Touch a hair on her head and you wont be keeping yours long after.”)
~ Dancing – Erikur is a horrible dancer and despises the act in all its verieties. When he is traped in the situation where he must be around dancing he tends to find a corner to brood in. (“I may have two left feet on the dance floor, but I sure makeup for it elsewhere.”)
Powers: Pyrokinesis is his most well honed power. He has the abilty to caused massive explosions with his mind that are capible of collaping a multilevel building. Along with pyrokinesis, Erikur also has other powers with which he does not have the same great strength. He has a very minimal form of precognition where his body can sense things that are about to happen and act accordingly in an involuntary action. He is also a high level psychokentic, although he is not always able to control this power thus deaming it useless in high tension situations. His aim still needs some developing. Even though he does have the ability to fly, he will not do so unless necessary. Manuplating dreams and pleasure bites are also among his powers.
RP Sample:
Sitting behind a rock relaxing, Erikur listened and ocassionally observed his daughter about 300 yards down the hill. He could sense her, she was of his blood and he had not doubted that for even a second since he had humorously watched her ignited a stack of books. He couldn’t help the lightness he had felt in his heart at that moment, even though it had sent Aida and her mother into shock and confusion. He couldn’t help but think back through her childhood as he sat there waiting for her to figure out what to do next. So many times had he wanted to run to her, help her when she had fallen and protect her when she was picked on. But that had not been an option, he didn’t want to ruin what she had with her mother and family. He had thought they would be better off without him. A twinge of pain shot through his chest as he thought back to when her mother had fallen ill and their clan had moved on without them. Just as he was about to get lost in his brooding he hear her begin to move into the woods.
Erikur followed, in through the trees, remaining silent. She was stalking her prey, he was protecting his daughter. She had been feeding from animals and he was worried that she was not gainning the strength she needed as her powers grew. He paused behind a tree as she feed from a wounded doe. He shifted his weight, he thought silently, from one foot to another when he heard her growl. He knew she had heard him when she slowly stood up. Pushing aside the increased desire to curse, he took a step closer to behind another tree. Had it been anyone else, human or vampire, he would have appeared to be silent, but she could hear him. She had caught him before, but he had never shown himself. Hearing her speek made him smile. She was learning. Suddenly she was running in the other direction, not wanting to scare her further, he slowly followed. As long as he could sense her, he could find her.
He would continue to wait to reveal himself for now, but soon, soon she would know him. For better or worse, she would know him as her father.
