Brandt :: Dhampir/Half-Vampire
Possible Face Claim: Liev Schrieber
Brief History: Brandt is a Half-Vampire. It is suspected the Xenophon and he go very far back, and that it is possible, Xen found him and made sure he was taken care of. No one is sure, and neither are talking. If anyone knows for certain, it is Ana. Brandt is an imposing figure; solid muscle, with a feral cast to his features that conceals a rather sharp mind. He is the King and Queen’s Castellan, or Butler; and anyone that finds that demeaning doesn’t really understand the role. He is their Executive Assistant, Guardian, Keeper of the Keys, and Master of the Household Staff. Very little happens in Teotihuacán that he is unaware of, and he keeps as close an eye on Beechwood as well. Brandt has demonstrated the ability to know what both his Dragon Charges needs are before they do, arriving with packs, weaponry, or reports they are looking for before they call for him.
Roger Black :: Werebear
Possible Face Claim: Vinnie Jones
Brief History: Roger is one of Beechwood’s many refugees. His age is indeterminate, thanks to his Lycanthropy, but he’s in his 50s at least, even if this bear of a man doesn’t look it. He was always a big fellow, his particular form of Lycan only served to make him shaggier. In some former life, it is believed he was in Law Enforcement, and everyone knows that he can handle himself physically; he may not approach the sharpness of Brandt, but he’s no dope, and quite an excellent detective. His Beast is a Brown Bear of prehistoric proportion, and he is not shy about displaying it or his Hybrid form from time to time. He serves as the Leader of Beechwood’s community, something of an Unofficial Mayor of the Shifter community, and the Sheriff of the Preserve at large. Roger helps maintain order, and keeps his Dragon Patrons from being mobbed by the masses with requests and lists of needs. Always friendly, until he can’t be, Roger is the welcoming hand, always willing to pitch in where he’s needed. It is known that Roger has a soft spot for the Queen; his appreciation for her approaches that of a son for a Mother, and it is thought that it was the Queen that helped Roger find his way to Beechwood.
Abigail “Abby” Westlake :: Gifted Human
Possible Face Claim: Salli Richardson
Brief History: Abby came to Beechwood as a refugee. She had been a schoolteacher somewhere, and now she is again. She serves as the Dragon’s Secretary of Education, or Minister of Education, or SchoolMarm General, depending on who you talk to. The Dragon King and Queen recognized early on that education was a weapon everyone not only deserved, but desperately needed if they were to make their communities and their State work and rise again. It helps that Abby is Clairvoyant, for a number of reasons, which has helped her to sift out the talented from the every day. She has been in Beechwood for several years now, taking over her position from an elderly Shifter without Abby’s direct expertise. Despite her being Human, her schools and their satellites are open to all kinds. This is an ongoing theme in Beechwood; everyone works together, or they fail together. Communities may break into distinct neighborhoods; shifter, human, and others – but Beechwood works for everyone, and everyone works for Beechwood.
Confucius :: Air Dragon
Possible Face Claim: Gackt
Brief History: Confucius is an Air Dragon of indeterminate age. He simply isn’t saying. He is a Dragon of moderate Power that maintains a well-concealed Lair beyond the City Limits of Pittsburgh, while maintaining a home in a cabin not far from Lupine territory. He is quiet, keeps to himself, is known to be an expert in a number of Oriental Weapons, as well as a Martial Artis and Historian. He is a guest lecturer in Beechwood schools, and indeed, anywhere and with anyone willing to listen. He has a strong fondness for humanity, and is one of the King and Queen’s counselors, thanks to his even temper and general sense of calm and unflappability. “Confucius say” is a running joke with his friendly Monarchs.
Sinclaire :: Fire Dragon
Possible Face Claim: Clancy Brown
Brief History: Sinclaire claims to have found America with the Norse. Little is known about this Dragon before coming to Pennsylvania. He apparently challenged Xenophon in Miami, and discovered to his dismay that it wasn’t just a name. He has served Xenophon since, and currently serves as Xenophon’s Field Marshall and Secretary in all matter Military, including what they can bring to offense and to defense. Shockingly, he is perhaps even more gifted as a Naval Commander, and is one of the few Dragons of his kind that doesn’t appear to be afraid of the water. He is best known for his ability to make fire, being a fair flyer, and for his skill with Military Engineering and Science. He runs what amounts to a Beechwood Boot Camp as well, and makes ships in bottles to soothe his aggressive nature – he smashes as many as he makes.
Sacajawea aka “Sarah” :: Earth Dragon
Possible Face Claim: Moon bloodgood
Brief History: Yes; The very same, though the story doesn’t get everything right. She is a gifted hunter, tracker, and foot soldier. She has had many clutches of eggs, and has proven to be one of the most fertile Dragon females in her past. She serves Xen and Ana as the leader and primary trainer of their Scouting Corps, which sense agent sof every Species all over the state, and even into the City. It is rumored that she has a sense for the Earth that is beyond sight, and that she can control it to varying degrees. Not surprisingly, she works hard, and isn’t afraid of getting her hands dirty. She is also a common lecturer in the school system of Beechwood.
Beechwood at Large
Beechwood has a community of Humans, though small, Shifters, Half-Breeds, and others. Xenophon and Ana have even allowed a Vampire or two to stop over and pass through. Vampires sneaking in, however, are dealt with harshly and permanently. There are no Vampires in residence, and it is doubtful that there ever will be. Xen and Ana promote cooperation amongst the Species, though they understand why different “districts” or neighborhoods might pop up. The Dragons rule the state, but they are doing their part to rebuild right in Beechwood directly. There are other Dragons that can see to the outlying reaches, and guide refugees to the Preserve. They keep an armed force prepared, have access to variable technology, and have a strong Scouting Corps spread throughout the State. There is room for many kinds of PCs here, as well as room for more NPCs not listed.
