Welcome to Nevermore City. It’s an odd little town on the west coast, in Oregon, not too far from Salem. People had been living there since the 1600s, before the Salem Witch trials, and some still believe there are witches around. They’re not completely wrong. Witches aren’t there, but faeries are. Everywhere. They run some of the bars in town and a few are living in the upstairs apartment. They seem to be becoming more mischievous and malevolent now-a-days. They’re stealing children left and right, not covering up their tracks as well as in the past.
And if you thought that was madness, then add a blood feud between werewolves (also known as lycanthropes by the residents of Nevermore) and vampires. They moved in about two decades ago, and they seem to be here to stay. The werewolves keep to the outskirts of the city while the vampires roam inside. But all it takes is one human to throw the minor truce off-balance. Because a lot of fights can break out over prey.
The creatures are also causing havoc by falling in love and other such things, having children with humans and other races. These poor creatures are called half-bloods, and everyone wants them dead except for who they grew up with. They stick out like a sore thumb when they’re around humans, more exotic, and dazzling than any human they’ve ever seen. The werewolf half-bloods aren’t as disturbing, but they’re unstable and weak compared to the pure blood lycans.
And then there are the hunters, who are keen on destroying anything that isn’t human. Faeries, vampires, and werewolves are dangerous after all. Half-bloods too, perhaps even more. So a group of dedicated humans, most of them who’s great-great-great grandfathers took part in the Salem witch trials mentioned above. All of them want one thing: anything that isn’t human dead. As they train up in their Academy, one thing is certain, they’re going to try to win, even if it gets every human in the area killed in the process.
